Results: overview
The Head Coach compiles the times of our swimmers linked
below from both the official times for individual events and relay splits that
he takes at the time. The objective is to ensure that there is a strong element
of objectivity when it comes to team selection. The challenge of selecting a
team is to balance a variety of competing aspects: swimmer ability, competition
rules, swimmer availability, anticipated performance and the need to bring new
participants into the competitive arena.
In some events, such as Speedo League and of course County Championships, we are
acutely aware of our need for the Club to perform to the best of its ability and
we would ask all parents and swimmers to support us in this objective by making
themselves available if selected. However, parents should bear in mind that we
do not go to every Gala with the sole intention of winning; in some cases the
objective is more often to "do well" whilst providing a wide selection of
swimmers with an opportunity to improve and enjoy competition.
Gala contact information:
When the club takes a team of swimmers to a league or inter-club gala, we try
to take a list of contact numbers of members of the club. On the way back from
the gala, someone on the coach will endeavour to have all the unaccompanied
children contact their parents when the coach is about half an hour away from
Putney Leisure Centre so that the parents know when to collect their children.
Please note:
1. It is the parents’ responsibility to inform the club of changes of address
and home phone numbers as well as mobile phone numbers. Also, they should
remember to let the Team Manager know if you will be contactable on an
alternative number while your child is at a gala.
2. Would you please inform the Team Manager if you attend a gala and intend to
take your child/children home by car. Similarly, you must inform the Team
Manager if you bring a child to a gala by car and would like them to travel home
on the coach.
