Results: Reading Open, 18-20 April
Friday was very sunny and hot outside and our swimmers made the sitting
inside bearable with some great swims. Philip Wood – 50m Back PB 31.19 and
50m Free PB 28.17; Victoria Masney – 50m Fly Age Group Gold and PB 33.59;
Caitlin Masney – 50m Fly PB 33.21; Hannah Collins - 50m Back Age Group Silver;
Caitlin Masney made the Grand Final of 50m Free with a great PB of 28.47 which
is within a whisker of an NQT time for 25m Pool of 28.19. In the final she was
5th 28.59. The day finished with Hannah Collins’ 800m Free coming 4th in her age
group with a PB of 9.47.82
Saturday not only did the weather turn cold and blustery but the day in the pool
didn’t carry on in the same vein as the day before. The bright patch arrived,
albeit at the end of the day, when Hannah Collins made it to her Age Group Final
in 100m Back and got a PB 1:11.32 and Bronze medal in a very tight final.
Sunday, although the clouds were still in evidence, the pool was a lot livelier
with a PB and SCASA time for Filippo Pollara 1:16.86; a two second PB for Philip
Wood in the 200m Free 2:07.77 and another Age Group final for Hannah Collins
were she improved her position and time but didn’t gain a PB.
All in all it was a very long weekend we did have some bright patches, which
made it all worthwhile and a big thank you to everyone who did turn up to look
after the swimmers (especially John Mills) and also assisted Reading SC in an
official capacity.
