Results: SCASA Masters Championships, 12/13 April

WSC picked up 36 medals (10 gold, 9 silver, 17 bronze). Of the men, Devin Howard (25/29) was the most successful, with an individual haul of two golds - in the 100m and 200m butterfly - four silvers and two bronze. In the women, Yvette Grice (19/24) came away with an unblemished record, winning gold in three events - 200m backstroke, 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle.

The other winners were Simon Clement (19/24) in the 200m individual medley, Martin Jurco (25/29) in the 200m breaststroke and Karen Mitchell (19/24) in the 200m freestyle.

All the swimmers competed hard, with a number of personal bests. But the men waited until the relays and the last minutes of the final session to add some real excitement to the event. In the 100+ 4x50m medley relay, Logan Poyurs got the team off to a great start with a tremendous backstroke leg, Jurco (breaststroke) and Howard (butterfly) then upped the ante, leaving Tristan Fuller (freestyle) to bring it home.

In the men's 120+ 4x50m medley relay, Jurco switched to backstroke, Fuller to breaststroke, while Howard again swam a mighty butterfly leg, giving Ross Tanner (at 38, the old man of the team) a one second lead. Fortunately, in his first competition in 15 years, Tanner proved up to the task.

Coach and team motivator Tony Pearce (55/59), won three medals - silver in the 200m backstroke and 200m butterfly, and bronze in the 400m freestyle

In the 200m individual medley, Howard picked up a silver, while Jurco won bronze.

In the 50m butterfly Steven Clark (19/24) took a silver, Howard a silver, while Tanner (35/39), got a bronze.

Nicola Nassi (25/29) took bronze in the 50m backstroke, while Anne Monaghan (30/34) did a personal best to also take bronze in the same event.

In the 50m freestyle, Fuller (25/29) won bronze, as did Karen Mitchell. Fuller also picked up a silver in the 400m freestyle.

In the 100m free, Mitchell and Howard both won silvers, while Deborah Henley (30/34) and Fuller won bronze.

In the 100m breaststroke, Howard won silver, Clement won bronze in the 200m breaststroke, with Andrew Molyneux (25/29) continuing the haul with a bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

In the relays, the club also won silvers in the men's 100+ 4x50m freestyle and the women's 120+ 4x50m freestyle, and bronze in the women's 120+ 4x50m medley, the mixed 160+ 4x50m medley, the mixed 100+ 4x50m medley and the mixed 100+ 4x50m freestyle.
