Guiding principles

Wandsworth Swimming Club's purpose and ethos are embodied in its guiding principles, which are:

SWIMMING - To promote swimming as a competitive sport through its teaching, training and coaching at all levels of ability and experience.

SWIMMERS - To assist and encourage all swimming members to attain their maximum potential as competitive swimmers and to gain fulfillment from doing so, through their participation in the Club’s activities.

CLUB - To provide responsible guardianship of the Club; its history, finances and reputation, through current activities.

COMMUNITY - To promote the benefits of competitive swimming within the local community, to encourage participation regardless of individual difference and to strive for recognition as a prime source of such services in our community.

SAFETY - To recognise that the safety of our members is of paramount importance. To work with the swimmers and, in the case of minors, their parents or guardians, to provide a safe and secure environment in which to enjoy the Club’s activities.

CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT - To recognise the need to continually assess the value of the Club’s current practices and to always be striving to improve the quality of all aspects of the Club’s activities.
