London Swimming included the following in a recent newsletter: "London disability swimmers set over 60 new records in the last quarter of 2011. The certificates will be presented to swimmers at the next two big competitions in the disability swimming calendar, the National Junior Championships at the end of March and the British International Disability Championships in April. Wandsworth’s Kahoru Harazawa set the most records of the 14 swimmers to achieve a new mark. Harazawa broke 15 records in the S10 and SB9 classification."
Monday Seal sessions at Ibstock Starting MONDAY 21 MAY we will NOT be splitting the sessions. We will run ONE session starting at 5.30 and ending at 6.30. Numbers have been more manageable lately and this will allow all swimmers to have more pool time. Transition group swimmers will swim to 7pm on Mondays and Fridays. So, as of MONDAY 21 MAY, ALL SESSIONS at Ibstock and PLC begin at 5.30pm. The BoE sessions on Saturday mornings remain at 8am. Mini Gala - calling all Dolphins! The next Mini Gala will be for Dolphins only and will take place on Saturday 12 May at 9.00am at Ibstock Place School (18.5m pool). Entry forms are being emailed out to all the Dolphins and are also available from Cindy. The entry fee is just £6 and covers all four events, including the relay. This an excellent opportunity for swimmers to gauge their own progress and all Dolphins are expected to participate. Medals will be awarded to the three fastest swimmers in each event. Please complete and return your entry form (along with payment) to one of the Dolphin coaches by 7pm on Thursday 10 May. Breaststroke Clinic will be held on Sunday 20 May at 7.00am at Putney Leisure Centre. The next stroke clinic will specialise in Breaststroke and give practical tips on how you can improve your starts, turns, technique etc. It will be run by two of our National/Performance swimmers: Karl Harazawa and Katie MacKenzie. The clinic is aimed specifically at Dolphin and County squad members but may also be suitable for some of the newer and younger Regional swimmers. There is no need to pre-register for the clinic, just turn up bright and early on the day. There will be a fee of £1 per swimmer. The session will be 30 minutes concentrated coaching in small groups with the remainder of the time spent with your normal squad coach. Wandsworth Borough Development Meet - Sunday 24 June The promoter's conditions, meet programme, Upper Limit times and the Individual Entry Forms are now available at this link. Entries to Alison Shaw by the closing date of 10 June 2012. Godalming Open Meet - Sunday 1 July All Dolphin and County squad swimmers should be entering the Godalming Open Meet. We plan to take a large group of swimmers to the event. It is a Level 4 meet. This means you do NOT require a previous ‘official’ entry time to participate. These galas are great fun, particularly if there are a large number of WSC swimmers taking part. The only restriction is that you are 9 years or over on 1 July. The gala is specifically aimed at swimmers who are new to competitions (it’s the next stage on from our ‘mini galas’ and the forthcoming Wandsworth Borough Development Meet (the latter being largely a team competition). In addition, there are lots of medals to be won! This is the perfect opportunity to get some official times and progress up the ‘gala ladder’. Without official times from a Level 4 meet it is not possible to enter other competitions in the future. Personally named entry forms are being distributed to all County and Dolphin swimmers who are 9 years plus. The deadline for entries is 7pm on Friday 11 May – no late entries will be accepted. Please direct any questions to your coach or to Alison Shaw or Nigel Rendell Surrey Age Group Championships 2012 - Great Results Well done and thank you to everyone who competed in the Surrey County Championships in February/March. WSC finished third in the medal table, with a total of 72 (33 Gold, 19 Silver and 20 Bronze); an excellent result and beaten only by the mighty clubs of Guildford and Woking that have many more swimmers than we do. You can download the Results from the Surrey website or through the link in our 2012 Competition Calendar. Cancellations and Amendments
